WILD WEST/COAST… Last poem of 2013

WILD WEST/COAST

1

No lotus eaters we

Swelter pepper

Swig beer and bitch.

Cook up the rent.

1

Barbecue/Cauldron.

Steak/Prize.

Gavel/Tenderizer.

We grow enormous

1

Righteous, meting

Justice, camping out.

Point. Peninsula

Less mitigation

1

Than an island, its

Star gardens, clarity

Of sea life, surrounding

Sound of silent crime.

  1. Heather,
I love this poem!…You express the spirit of the Pacific NW so beautifully, in spirit, sound, sight and smells…You are an example of what I so love about the BC extended art/entertainment scene…I lived in Southern California for a few years…This may sound strange, but I swear the constant sun heat in SoCal makes it very difficult for artistic bents to mature…BC, on the otherhand, has a great climate to mature a land that can make great entertainment and art…In your poem you brought me into an intimate string of moments, gave me a taste of sensuous religion, living not for the moment, but for the eternal now…
