TWO COOKS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Until Dex she\u2019d thrived on conflict,
\nintrepid illusions and huge whacks.
\nAfter the previous Pan Man left
\nand took all the best knives<\/p>\n

she\u2019d cut off her hair,
\nroamed the earth,
\nconcealed behind a balaclava;
\nfly fishing in Yosemite,<\/p>\n

paddling beneath the borealis,
\nclimbing Transylvanian Alps
\nand the stairs of Dracula\u2019s castle,
\nnipperkin at the ready.<\/p>\n

Long mane slowly returned,
\nwarming her viper heart in the process.
\nFinally, reclaiming relevance
\nand the ability to deliver hearty meals,<\/p>\n

the rest of her returned home as well,
\nwhere she bumped into Dex
\ntossing a hot salad.
\nBeyond-measuring-Dex<\/p>\n

pitted her olives
\nand scratched her back
\naccording to their pact.
\nTwo cooks can herd one another.<\/p>\n

Neither can call it quits
\nor die in the weeds
\nno matter how heated
\nthe moments or kitchens become.<\/p>\n

With a shared fondness
\nfor curry they taper toward
\nthe holidays and their first Christmas,
