BRAVE<\/p>\n

Noise Manor born
\nleather swaddled brave, swoon worthy
\nLizard Prince, skull branded,
\nwicked brained and lens-handed.<\/p>\n

Shades conceal peripheral glances.
\nAll-seeing oracular eagle eyes
\ntake me in, propel me
\nfuture forward faster<\/p>\n

than the magic bullets whizzing past.
\nOnce the tousled raven-haired
\nson with the most sun,
\nexpert stick handler alights<\/p>\n

upon a daily industrious tear
\nthrough the cities,
\nplaying power tools guitar style.
\nRipped t-shirt death wishes<\/p>\n

upon a rock star came true
\nfor so many of our comrades.
\nAvian marked forbear spreads his wings
\nto shelter, nurture fledglings.<\/p>\n

Knows not fear. Relentless fighter
\nlightsabers frenemies. Relentless suitor
\nbears roaring mouths of lily,
\nslams shut decades of black door<\/p>\n

to open a portal to light.
\nOwns his skin, owns beats like no other,
\nowns a heart that beats like no other,
\nworn on David of Michelangelo arms.<\/p>\n

Redboned record lover
\nbasks in our spotlight
\nand is here now.
\nAt last.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

ON THE WRONG SIDE OF HOWE SOUND<\/p>\n

\naccording to social media.
\nGrief out of the picture.
\nDo we really need
\nanother photo of another pet?<\/p>\n

No one else had to mourn
\nwhen our mutt expired.
\nThey cared but only being polite,
\nisland vet carting away his bulk
\nfor three hundred bucks,
\nSamIAm\u2019s passing sad
\nbut no tragedy.<\/p>\n

A chaotic death that occurred
\nwhile I was on the mainland.
\nSam had puked in the morning
\nbefore I ran to catch the ferry.
\nHe often vomited after devouring
\neverything in his path; colossal
\nmushrooms, deer poop, beetles,
\nvoracious as he was vicious
\ntoward other dogs or ducks.<\/p>\n

No fur baby<\/em> this hound,
\nthough adorable and adored
\nby our posse,
\nkids riding him pony-style
\nor tossing sticks for hours.
\nMy hapless, overwhelmed,
\nhome-schooled and home alone
\nteenaged son called in a panic,
\nhorror I could only imagine,
\nsickened as he described
\npeering into Sam\u2019s unseeing eyes,
\nI unable to help or take charge.
\nDammit! On the one <\/em>
\nday I have appointments in town.<\/em><\/p>\n

Attempting to shield my beset boy
\nI had not yet instructed him,
\nwarned of the cavalcade of loss
\nsteaming its way straight for his soul
\nruthlessly as a tugboat.
\nThere is no way
\nto illustrate its impact.
\nGentle or tough, hushed or brazen
\nno one is spared from that particularly cold,
\nhard fact of life.
\nHold Fast,<\/em>
