Try to spill my guts here but I’m never comfortable revealing too much. Apparently I’m a “super-social introvert.” Still I’m not used to this degree of solitude though it equates with freedom, once I tamp down the anxiety. Been writing like mad and happy to share some verse. Stay well my pretties.<\/p>\n

UNSAVE THE DATE<\/p>\n

Plague year pall
\nOver wedding season.
\nGloomy groom,
\nAbbreviated bride-
\nHamstrung planner.
\nPerhaps temperature checks,
\nAccessorised, matching masks?
\nBut who will admire her lipstick?
\nHow will she kiss her lucky guy?
\nAnd who will smuggle in bliss?<\/p>\n

While florists go broke,
\nWhiskery best man\u2019s relieved,
\nHappily ensconced in his bunker.<\/p>\n

STILL IN THE KNOW<\/p>\n

Does the city teach
\nRudiments of urban life?
\nThe corolla, how to sport a crown?
\nBoth must be embraced
\nTo be assimilated, to be chic.
\nMore difficult is learning
\nTo accept my mother,
\nA Qu\u00e9becois oddly named Corona,
\nThat she skidded into me
\nWhile seething squarely.<\/p>\n

There had been glimmerings,
\nAs when a hoodie
\nBecomes a hood,
\nA mask, camouflage,
\nAn errant clarinet
\nAn instrument of spite.<\/p>\n

As when a spangled nation
\nTingles or spews
\nWith nothing in between,
\nMight diffused, though might enough
\nTo take us down with them,
\nWith their rusticated dogmata,
\nJoy-sticking, foot soldier jingoists.<\/p>\n

Boots on the ground
\nAs the coastline burns,
\nOrca blubber boils,
\nPretzel-stuffed crows
\nAnd black-lunged raptors plummet.<\/p>\n

Messages mauled before delivery,
\nI\u2019ve learned to keep my mouth shut.<\/p>\n
