Nostalgia inducing, high school was hell, as Veronica observes, though I liked my friends. Well, most of them. All I wanted to do was get the hell out of there though, putting in the required effort to graduate. This recent poem seems apropos.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>FIELD TRIP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Take umbrage.<\/p>\n<p>Sour all I have.<\/p>\n<p>Do not rock kismet,<\/p>\n<p>Delight in peals of spring.<\/p>\n<p>Mired, I flicker, follow<\/p>\n<p>A waif; wily, poisonous, we<\/p>\n<p>Pervert high school rituals,<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Clawhammer rivals,<\/p>\n<p>Blind to the nests,<\/p>\n<p>Cocoons, hives, shells,<\/p>\n<p>Snoozing in biology class,<\/p>\n<p>Oblivious to organisms<\/p>\n<p>Living in, on, through us.<\/p>\n<p>All escape our attention.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I know I must<\/p>\n<p>Observe, take notes.<\/p>\n<p>Name stars and species,<\/p>\n<p>Salvage withered specimens,<\/p>\n<p>Friends.
