Roots. Here it be, the latest work-in-progress. The “I, engineer” here full of bravado. It’s not *me* that’s for certain. This redhead is acutely aware that she controls nothing. Do you think the switch in POV works?

\nDawning Consciousness<\/strong>
\n<\/strong>
\nShe wakes grimly febrile,
\ndesperately nostalgic
\nfor dawdling in ditches
\nof tadpoles,
\nwagering glass
\nmarbles in snow lanes,
\nsewing mini skirts
\nfor her Barbie,
\nmashed potatoes,
\nfried baloney,
\nthe gag reflex.<\/p>\n

She shuts her eyes,
\nsnubbing the town\u2019s lens
\nzooming in on her culpability,
\nincensed at the sun\u2019s insolence,
\nrising despite the collisions,
\nthe most recent death toll.<\/p>\n

She groans, engulfed in tokens
\nof admirers, embattled by, dreading
\nthe delirium of desire,
\none resolutely phlegmatic
\nas the other effuses, plummets.
\nNo incidental leaf
\nbut a loose lunatic rook
\nlit mate-old school canon
\nraining down like a medicine ball.
\nMen ostensibly,
\non, off or side tracked
\ninterpersonals interpenetrating,
\nfictions, demands, tousles
\ndelightfully incessant.<\/p>\n

No accident this transport back
\nto forsaken tracks,
\nthe giant drainpipe beneath.
\nI engineered it.
\nI, of humble origin
\nand melancholy disposition
\nprovoke the atmosphere,
\nprovide the stimulation,
\nchoose the destination,
\norchestrate the robberies.<\/p>\n

I, in the clich\u00e9 of a crisp white shirt
\nand black hat
\ninflict pain, increase pressure,
\ndraw hostility, reel in crisis
\ncommonly referred to
\nas authentic experience.<\/em>
\nI dare to sprawl,
\ninvite expansion
\nas vital to my vitals
\nas blood on needlework.<\/strong><\/p>\n
