Gazes up at ballooning clouds as if imagining
\nfrogs. Giraffes. Corvettes and barns,
\nas if Neptune\u2019s head has heard
\nher pleas. Sent me. She looks like a mannequin.
\nAs if by law of nature, a stripped woman\u2019s body
\nlooks like a mannequin after it floats
\nto the surface in a rainforest denuded
\nby steam donkeys and timber sales. All matter
\nfrom the depths is netted by log jams.<\/p>\n
She stares at me. Cannot see
\nthe pebbles embedded in my knees.
\nOr my face, not so sweet.
\nNo bubbles, just the stillness
\nof standing water. No trace DNA.
\nNo hard earned cash. Only cool airstreams
\nof aspen leaves. My grasping hand
\ntakes hers, skin gliding onto my fingers
\nlike a glove. A device. We share features
\nany porno masticating, regular working stiff
\njoe wants in his garage
\nbetween the red pickup and the Crestliner.<\/p>\n
We watch the rim of night. A spiral
\narm of stars, their slow light two million
\nyears too late. Naked eyes decipher
\nOrion the hunter. Cassiopeia. Bright knots
