I found myself writing this flight themed poem on the infamous date.<\/p>\n<div style=\"height: 1.4em; visibility: hidden;\">1<\/div>\n<p><strong>GHOST PILOT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Am I dead?<br \/>\nYoke of command.<br \/>\nNo turning back.<br \/>\nNavigating soup.<br \/>\nProcedures forsaken.<\/p>\n<p>Rapid roll to the right<br \/>\nBetrays the horizon.<br \/>\nWish I\u2019d called in sick.<br \/>\nVoices swap, feel up<br \/>\nThe ceiling, glow mortal.<br \/>\nNo turbulence but peculiar<\/p>\n<p>Buzzing in the cockpit. An<br \/>\nUndoing. Damn prop flies off!<br \/>\nHole sliced into fuselage.<br \/>\nExplosive decompression.<br \/>\nOxygen over. Fume of fog.<\/p>\n<p>Monster called Hypoxia.<br \/>\nAm I dead?<br \/>\nI keep my head. Level my wings<br \/>\nScroll hardened bush below.<br \/>\nGeriatric moose.<br \/>\nAnglers caught shooting.<\/p>\n<p>Stronger than-ten-acres-of-garlic Electra<br \/>\nCrippled, stuck on full throttle.<br \/>\nHips shaking, soon to rip apart.<br \/>\nHigh tail? Ditch?<br \/>\nEnvision a long, northern runway.<\/p>\n<p>Take the thing by the horns,<br \/>\nSteer, brute muscle mustered.<br \/>\nStabilize this damn fossil.<br \/>\nSecond pass. Last chance. Brace.<br \/>\nTouchdown. Kill the engines.<br \/>\nCommitted. Hurtling.<\/p>\n<p>No brakes, hydraulics. Adrenaline<br \/>\nRunning, reduced to mere passenger.<br \/>\nOff the runway. Sweet<br \/>\nBurning.
