OUR THIRST<\/strong><\/p>\n

Towering, pensive Danny Boy.
\nBloodied. Unbowed.
\nLithe, simmering
\nScar brandishing tomboy.<\/p>\n

Preeminent cursers.
\nJunkyard dog hearts
\nSwapping reflections.
\nDamage.<\/p>\n

Kiss us. We\u2019re, you know,
\nIrish. Black Irish.
\nFuck yeah. We invented melancholy,
\nLap up sea squalls like puddle water,<\/p>\n

Bite tragedy\u2019s ass. Devour angst, roll over
\nDespair. Brood, pour, grapple, shove
\nThe good fight and function Godammit,
\nEspecially when called upon.<\/p>\n

Big, deliberate, quixotic, plodding
\nThrough calamity. Breathing little,
\nWe flail against ourselves,
\nRail, smack, filch one another\u2019s bones,<\/p>\n

Laughing in the morning.
\nNothing sacred,
\nCatholic as we may be
\nDo not go down. Know Hell. Knees.<\/p>\n

Swells. Rising again and again
\nThrough the slag, flames,
\nHowling, baying,
\nFumes. Bellowing waves.<\/p>\n
