They indulge both my Irish and punk rock roots with their fierce political righteousness and DIY ingenuity. I\u2019ve been blasting their anthems, and yesterday I took in their film \u2014 which I enjoyed so much I even reviewed it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>WHY KNEECAP HIT ME HARD<\/strong><br>As much craic as this was, <em>Kneecap<\/em> is no mere frolic, no Beatles-style romp, no throwaway music vehicle. It\u2019s a serious, moving film with a sharp screenplay, endearing characters, and strong performances. I can see why it won the Audience Choice Award at Sundance. At times it felt almost documentary-like \u2014 I learned as much about Belfast, Northern Ireland\u2019s culture, and the fight for the Irish language as I did about the band. An incredible story, brilliantly adapted for the screen.
