A work in progress for those paying attention. Thank you. I’m diligently toiling away on two books, my fourth collection of poetry and a rewrite of my novel, which buoys me amid daily heartbreaking news of strife, war and disaster.<\/p>\n

SIGHTLINES OF DESIRE<\/strong><\/p>\n

Seeing the mountains,
\nhowever distant buoys me.
\nGrouse Mountain presides
\noutside my window,
\nits Eye of the Wind turbine intrigues,<\/p>\n

the way beholding a constellation\u2019s sprawl
\ncasts enchantment,
\nthe way beholding you
\nenthralls,
\nthe way we stood apart together,<\/p>\n

contemplating Vincent\u2019s eyes and irises,
\nengulfed in cascades of cobalt,
\namid a sea of raw self-portraits,
\nlost in ecstatic undulations,
\nimperceptible dilations,<\/p>\n

transported from the shackles of realism
\nto a realm of painterly distortions,
\nto Saintes-Maries,
\nunfurled before us, as if a canvas,
\na portal to the 19th century.<\/p>\n

I see your mammal gaze,
\nsinewy strokes, tumultuous vigor,
\nthe disastrous mettle of your being.
\nWe carve our vision, craft sightlines,
