Biography<\/span><\/h1>\n

Heather Haley is a Vancouver-based writer, singer, and videopoetry pioneer. Hailed as one of Canada\u2019s national treasures, she founded the all-female band The Zellots, performing up and down the West Coast at the height of the underground punk rock movement. Her experiences continue to shape her fierce, genre-defying voice.<\/p>\n

A trailblazer in videopoetry, Haley\u2019s short films have screened internationally and are available on Vimeo, where her fusion of text, image, and sound has influenced a generation of artists. She also founded The Edgewise Caf\u00e9, one of Canada\u2019s first electronic literary magazines, further cementing her role as an innovator across media.<\/p>\n

Performing as AURAL Heather, she released critically acclaimed spoken word song albums including Princess Nut and Surfing Season. She is the author of the poetry collections Sideways, Three Blocks West of Wonderland, Skookum Raven, and Cariboo Ashes, as well as the novel The Town Slut\u2019s Daughter. Her work has appeared widely in publications and anthologies, and she has toured across Canada, the United States, and Europe.<\/p>\n

Committed to craft, authenticity, emotional depth, and a keen sense of the absurd, Haley fearlessly explores questions society often avoids\u2014continuing to challenge and inspire through her writing, performances, videopoems and creative collaborations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
